Katya’s Erotica News

I’m delighted to report that Crossdressing is selling steadily. Many readers are taking advantage of it being available free on Kindle Unlimited, like the rest of my titles.

In an earlier update I promised that Opportunities would be published in early December, and I can confirm that is still the case. The story is presently ‘resting’ and I’ll be performing final edits in about two weeks to ensure it’s ready for all you lovely people.

As any of my regular readers will know, I top up my Work in Progress as story ideas occur to me. It seems that the more I write, the more inspired I become, so that’s got to be good. I’ll be aiming to return to novella-length with my next titles which simply implies a reduction in story length, not in the quality of the tale.

Novella

I try with every story to demonstrate that although the genre and sub-categories are similar, the individual characters enjoy different journeys on their chosen sexual adventures. I’ve found that it’s easier to achieve this by creating characters from a wide variety of backgrounds and ages.

Novella

At the moment, I’m working simultaneously on Older, Bolder, Crossdresser, and Paying the Price. The tales are both different from Opportunities, and from each other. As usual, I’ll apply myself to writing the stories until one captures my attention more strongly. Whichever one ends up on top, I’ll be aiming to publish in February 2024.

Until next time, thank you for being there, and remember, if you ever want to leave a comment, you can use the box, or the Contact page.

Novella

I have five stories in my Work in Progress, and I’ve used older people as the main characters in two of them. They are involved in their pastime secretly, mainly because of their regular lifestyles, just like in the real world.

Novella

In the other tales, the characters are introduced to the general LGBTQ scene differently. They find themselves, like many others, with the same worries about acceptance, how far to go with their alter-ego, and the constant issue of whether or not they will find fulfilment and some sort of regular lifestyle.

Readers might wonder how prolific I appear to be, noting that I seem to have a regular flow of story ideas. Some authors, irrespective of their chosen genre, are content to work on a single book, and until that is completed and published, they don’t spend time on anything else. It’s a good method, but I don’t work that way.

Novella

I toyed with the idea of becoming an erotica author for quite a while before it became my passion. I had started and stopped several projects, wondering if I’d ever see something through to completion. After much soul-searching and consulting with the author who would become my mentor, I finally produced my first book. He suggested that I should always have more than one story on the go, allowing me to move from one to another easily.

Novella

He once wrote in his blog that an author, or someone aspiring to be one, should hold onto all their notes, ideas, and unfinished stories. Thankfully, I remembered those wise words.

Much of what has now become my catalogue has evolved from fresh ideas, mixed with resurrected notes and segments of incomplete work I’d saved and filed over quite a while. As you might expect, I occasionally slip in a scene which is based on personal experience, but I’m not about to highlight those.

Novella

The categories of my work are not accidental but chosen after reading a range of erotica and investigating popular themes. One major difference between my tales and that of some of my contemporaries is that I don’t only write sex scenes; I produce a ‘story’ as a vehicle for sexual adventures.

I’m delighted to say that I now have a following after a couple of years of effort and regular output. I’m grateful to all of you out there for every copy of every book I see sold or borrowed on Kindle Unlimited, and I’ll go on until that interest wanes.

Much love to you, all my friends.

p.s. I’ve updated this news post with another idea added to my Work in Progress.

Available came to mind while I was walking in the countryside, and the story idea blossomed, so I had to create a cover and blurb while it was all still clear.

Katya News

More Than a Sex Therapist is now available for you to enjoy. It was, as I said before, intended to be a novella, but as sometimes happens, the characters got carried away and the word count soared beyond forty thousand words to reach seventy thousand words. I hope this isn’t a disappointment to my regular readers.

As mentioned in my July post, my next offerings are all intended to be novellas, and to retain control over length, apart from character creation, plot and the other ingredients, I’m setting out specific scenes in advance for each book. This is an idea I considered previously, but didn’t use because I wanted to let the stories unfold and take as long as felt comfortable. If nothing else, it will be an interesting test of will.

All four of my Work in Progress are underway, so as usual, the one which captures my attention the most will be the next for full-time writing. My aim is to produce one more title before the end of the year.

Thank you for your generous support, and special thanks to those who provide me with feedback via comments, reviews of my books or private feedback via my Contact page.

Katya News

During the periods when a new story is resting between edits, I sketch out the plot for my next ideas. Like everyone in our modern world, I sometimes surf the internet. I recently checked out a website that was new to me, and as I read through the content and investigated the interaction, inspiration struck once again.

The result of that inspiration is Coming with Age, which is the latest addition to my Work in Progress. The blurb is available if you click on the cover, but the short version is that a middle-aged man is kicked out of his home when his wife discovers that he crossdresses.

I’m aiming for novella length in all three of my new titles, so I’ll have to control the characters and their urges to explore and experiment with each other. For now, I have no date set for publication of my next three Works. If I do restrain the characters and keep the book-length to novella, I’m sure that one of the three tales will be out by December.

I’m delighted to report that More Than a Sex Therapist will be available on 1st August.

This story was intended to be a novella, reaching around forty thousand words, but the characters needed more space to interact. At sixty-five thousand words, there was too much action to remove any chapters, so it’s stepped up to the next size of book.

Nothing drastic has been done to the original idea of the story, apart from the introduction of a slight twist to allow for more naughty shenanigans. The same four main characters carry the tale, and others are introduced in the background but only to create depth to the fictional world.

As I said in my update in June, I hope this is as enjoyable to read as it has been to write.

Thank you for your generous support, and special thanks to those who review my books or send me private feedback via my Contact page.

The year is well underway and so are my next titles, but I still have to whip the stories and the characters into shape.

I’m working on all three new titles simultaneously. What that means in reality is that I work on a story for a couple of weeks, put it aside and work on another. It keeps the tales and scenarios fresh when I return to them.

One of the new stories is in two parts because it did start as one book, but there was too much to squeeze in … and I know that shouldn’t be something to complain about. The third new one is a standalone … .

Over the past few days I’ve also been revisiting my covers to give them a fresh look.

Click on a title from the main menu or choose a book cover from the main catalogue and you’ll be taken to a screen with the cover and the blurb (insight) to the story. There are arrows to the left and right to allow you to scroll through my entire catalogue. Enjoy.

I’m pleased that the sales show that there is an interest in my writing, but without reviews from readers, it leaves an author like me unaware of where my strengths or weaknesses lie. I considered stopping but if the titles are being bought, some of you out there like my storytelling.

In the meantime, thank you to my regulars for your support.

How hard can it be?

I’ve seen the number of eBooks increase over the past couple of years and as I scribbled my ideas and then typed them as stories, I thought, one day I’ll publish.

You’d think that I’d have the confidence to just do it, but no, I don’t want to produce one book and wait for years for the next. My first story is complete, but not yet published. (It’s being proofread).

I’ve chosen what I think are three pretty good themes for my next titles, so I’m going to take tips from a guy who has been writing erotica successfully for a while.

My mentor is performing a final proofread of my first book ‘Neighbourhood Watch‘, and apparently, it’s ‘not too bad’. He suggested that instead of continuing by working on one book, I should update my notes for a variety of titles, and then choose one to concentrate on.

The theory is for me to try to write the whole story quickly, save it, and leave it aside. I then have to write as much as I can of the next one and leave it aside. Yes, you’ve guessed, I have to do the same with the third one … and leave it aside. Another idea was for me to try writing a couple of chapters to see how a story opens up. I’ll give that a go too and see what works best for me.

The author who is mentoring me said that by the time I got back to the first new story and read it through, I’d have a better feel for where I was taking things.

I also owe him big time because he helped me set up this site, and he’s producing my covers which is an area that did worry me. I know the theory of ‘branding’, but building my own will take me a while.

I hope to publish Neighbourhood Watch in February 2019, but wish me luck as I get underway with the others. I’d suggested April to produce one title from my Work in Progress menu, but I’ve already learned that it would be too quick. I’ll see how things look for a May or June publication.
