Although overweight, and only 19, I’d been told I wasn’t a bad looking guy. Two failed short relationships with girls had ensured I didn’t have much self-confidence.
My dad spent half the time working away from home and my step-mum wasn’t married to him, she was his partner. I’d only known her for about a year, but due to her job and my education, we hardly saw each other. I might not have seen her much but she was worth looking at.
When I got a place in university I moved across the city so that I could live away from home and perhaps enjoy independence. Instead of a flat, I was lucky enough to land a room in a detached house with Peter and Harriet, two other students of my age.
University, as it turned out was not the only place I’d be gaining an education.
